Gilda

A desperate call for help from a concerned citizen put the GSR team into motion to rescue two beautiful dogs slated to be euthanized for chasing livestock! Gilda (age 4) and Martina (age 10 months) were going to be put to sleep simply because their owner was too irresponsible to keep them from running loose. Although our coffers are bare and our volunteers are weary, we knew that GSR was the difference between Life and Death for these two deserving dogs. In an instant, we made the decision to bring them under our protective wing.

Gilda is a magnificent coated female, approximately 4 years old. She is friendly and outgoing and seems to get along with other dogs her own size or larger. Martina is her daughter and is very frightened by all of the new faces, voices and surroundings that she has encountered. We are working with her to build her trust and to help her understand how fun it can be to be a family member. Gilda and Martina do not have to be placed in a home together, although we believe that Martina would benefit from the guidance of an older dog.

These two orphans have just arrived so we will update their profiles as we learn more about them. We know that Martina will need a patient and quiet home with someone who is willing to give her some basic obedience training. Gilda appears to have had some level of formal training but could use a refresher course to polish her skills.

Gilda and Martina are in boarding. These two fur-kids desperately need a sponsor to help offset the expense of their nightly boarding ($24.00 per night!). If you would like to help but can not adopt a dog at this time, please consider becoming a sponsor for dogs like Gilda and Martina by clicking here with a gift of any amount. We are an all volunteer organization (NO ONE gets paid) and we rely upon the kindness of animal lovers like you to help us continue this important work!

To arrange to meet Gilda or Martina, please contact johnandebhancock@aol.com and complete the online application to expedite the adoption process.
