Joe

Joe's current owners rescued him from an abusive home in North Dakota where he was left outside in the snow, rain, wind and heat all year long. Many times in the winter, his water bowl would be a frozen block of ice, leaving him not only cold, but thirsty too. As if that wasn't bad enough, the children in the house would tie him to a tree and throw rocks at him for amusement. Despite all of this Joe is loving and loveable, showing the true spirit of a German Shepherd.

The big beautiful guy, along with his housemates Auggie, Wulfie, and Belle, thought he had it made in his new home until his owners found that they are losing the long-term lease on their house to a developer. Joe may be a little shy at first with new people but he has a loyal and loving temperament. He gets along well with people, is gentle with kids (despite the rocks), and likes other dogs and cats (he is currently living with several). We think Joe is between 3 and 4 years old. He loves to play and romps in his yard with his fellow housemates.

Joe is in the market for a home where he will be treated gently, lovingly and with the respect he deserves for the rest of his life. Are you that home? German Shepherds live to be an average of 13 years old, longer if given proper care, time and attention. In return for your care and love, a shepherd will love you, guard you and entertain you with all of their heart and soul. Seems like a good trade to us!
