Don't let his impressive appearance fool
you -- this guy has a sweet personality and a strong desire to
please his special person. Richter probably weighs around 80
pounds but with good nutrition and regular exercise should bulk
out much more. We believe he is around 5 years old. He
has just arrived so we we will update his bio as we learn more
about him.Richter was facing
certain death at a public animal shelter because he exhibited fear
in his shelter cage. All too often this is interpreted as
unsocial behavior by individuals who are not experienced with
shepherds. The truth was that being in a cold, damp cage,
surrounded by strange people and barking dogs frightened Richter
and made him hide at the back of his cement cell. When the
shelter advised us that Richter was being considered for
euthanasia, we rushed in to save this incredible creature's life.
We know that he would do the same if his special person was in
danger.
March
1, 2004:
Can you help Richter? Recently, we rushed
this boy to an animal emergency hospital when we saw that he was
straining and in pain. Our vet removed a suspicious mass that was
bigger than a cantaloupe from Richter's abdomen during a VERY long
surgery. We have sent the tissue to the lab to get an analysis,
but meanwhile, Richter's surgery bill remains unpaid. Can you
help us to raise the funds to pay for the surgery that undoubtedly
saved his life? Please click
here
to make a donation to Richter's medical fund.
We'll post an update once we know what the
biopsy reveals. Please think good thoughts for this big,
beautiful boy!
