March
1, 2004:
Maxim has the great looks and solid build
of a German working quality shepherd. At age 18 months, he
is in desperate need of surgery to correct a torn cruciate
ligament (ACL) in his hind leg. We don't know how Maxim
sustained this injury -- it could have occurred while he was at
the animal shelter, or it could be the reason that his owner
abandoned him there in the first place. Our vet tells us
that time is of the essence to get Maxim's leg repaired, but the
initial estimate for the surgery is $900 and our coffers are bare!
We know that Maxim needs us so we hope that you can help us patch
him up. Please click

run and play like other dogs his age.
Maxim is friendly and outgoing and gets along
nicely with other friendly dogs but does not care too much for
small dogs. He weighs approximately 65 pounds now, but
really needs to put on some pounds to arrive at a healthy weight.
Maxim rides nicely in the car. We believe that he has had
some basic training, as he walks politely on a leash. We
believe that he is housebroken.
Maxim was rescued from a crowded animal
shelter when his time ran out. Our volunteer had to drive several
hours to rescue him, but it was well worth it! Maxim is going to
make someone a very nice companion. We believe that he would be a
good choice for a female dog who wants a playmate.
Maxim is currently in a boarding kennel.
