This gorgeous is boy is Gunther...
Gunther was purchased from a breeder for
thousands of dollars as a small puppy. When his family moved out
of the country, Gunther was turned into a local animal shelter.
When a volunteer at the shelter called the breeder they offered to
fly out to get Gunther. When the shelter informed the breeder
that they would only release Gunther after he had been neutered,
the breeder not longer wanted him. If he could not be used for
breeding, he was not wanted. Thank goodness, as living life in a
kennel simply to be used for breeding is a horrible life for any
dog.
The shelter called GS Rescue as they felt
Gunther did not show well, and therefore, he had not been
adopted. He was reserved, and did not jump up on people to say
'hello'. He's a German Shepherd, and as anyone familiar with the
breed knows, it's not in their nature to jump up on people and beg
for attention.
Gunther was going to be put down that
night... A volunteer with GS Rescue went to the shelter to meet
this sweet boy, and knew immediately he was special... Once he
was out of the horrible shelter he was a new dog!!! The
frightened dog turned out to be a lover boy!!! He cuddled, gave
kisses, was a perfect gentleman on the leash. He is awesome in
the car as well.
When offered a much coveted treat, he took
it as gentle as a little lamb. He is also wonderful with other
dogs. He greeted all the dogs at the vets office with a smile and
a kiss. Large and small dogs, everyone is a friend.
Gunther is 12 months old. He weighs
85 pounds, and is a beautiful boy. He's a big boy with an even
bigger heart... This darling boy deserves a wonderful family
to call his own... Are you that wonderful family?
