As the San Bernardino fires
roared through the canyon homes, many animals lost there homes and
were separated from there families. Thankfully most of the
lost animals were ultimately reunited with there families.
This is not the case with Ember. Ember was picked up by
animal control when the fires first broke out. She had owner
identification on her. The shelter contact her owners
repeatedly and no one ever came for poor Ember. Days went by
and one day a kennel assistant came in and found that Ember had
delivered a litter of puppies. No one knew that this poor
girl was pregnant when she came into the shelter. Ember
nursed and cared for her puppies for 8 weeks in a cold, cement dog
run. The shelter staff kept Ember and her puppies for much
longer than required because they knew what a wonderful dog she
was.
Ember's puppies got weaned and were spoken
for... but Ember was not. When one of our volunteers went
out to the shelter, to pick up yet another homeless shepherd, she
met Ember and knew that her life had to be saved.
Ember is now safe with German Shepherd
Rescue and is looking for a forever home that will cherish her.
Ember is a dark black and tan shepherd. We believe she is
approximately 4-5 years old. Ember needs a home where she
will given some much needed TLC. With some much needed
nutrition, Ember will fill out to be a gorgeous girl.
Ember is currently in a boarding kennel,
and would love to get into a foster or permanent home. If
