Icon

Icon is a magnificent black male shepherd with tan paws.  He is a sweet, friendly, and lovable dog who will make a great addition to any family.  He is the best of two great German breeds -- the shepherd and the Rottweiler.  His round face is always beaming with happiness.  We would describe him as a big goofball of a dog who gets along nicely with non-aggressive dogs, but will stand his ground with other macho males.  Icon does well at the "Dog Beach", and he loves to romp and play with the other dogs.  Icon weighs in around 80-85 pounds and is solid!!!

Icon walks very nicely on a leash and knows basic commands.  He responds well to training and praise.  He is housebroken and plays nicely with dogs his own size.  Basically, he's a giant teddy bear.  Icon's whole goal in life is just to please!  He wants nothing more than to make his person (or family) happy.  Icon is easy-going and flexible -- he could fit into an active family with children or be content just to hang out with his special person.  This guy has a HUGE heart and is the type of dog that would give his life for his family.

At a recent adoption event, Icon had three small children hanging on him.  He was so happy, and had a big grin from ear to ear.  He loves children, and didn't even mind when the littlest one was laying right on top of him.  He tends to get a little overly protective of the kids because he feels that he needs to be their guardian.

He served his previous family loyally and lovingly for 7 years, even when his people paid less and less attention to him.  Despite his devotion, Icon's family dumped him at a crowded animal shelter, claiming that they no longer had time for this sweet boy.  At age 7, he is a happy and healthy guy who longs to have his own family again.  Can you help this wonderful family dog to find his forever home?

Icon is in boarding.  If you wish to meet him, please click on the button below and fill out our online adoption application, or email mdalescomm@aol.com for more information.
